The species
Bovine enterovirus consists of at least two serotypes:
bovine enterovirus (BEV) 1
and BEV-2. However, it has recently been proposed that the bovine
enteroviruses should be divided into two distinct species, each
containing a number of types (Knowles, 2005; Zell et al., 2006).
A BEV has recently been reported from a bottlenose dolphin (EU886967;
Nollens et al., unpublished); no details are available yet.
