| The species Poliovirus contains three
serotypes, PV-1 to PV-3. Here is a list of the
prototype strains. A recent taxonomic proposal submitted to the ICTV to move the three polioviruses into the Human enterovirus C species has been accepted by the Executive Committee and awaits ratification by the ICTV membership. A second proposal, to make Human enterovirus C the type species for the family, has similarly been accepted. Once ratified these changes will be reflected in the organization of these web pages. |
