The genus Kobuvirus consists of three species,
Aichivirus A
(formerly Aichi virus),
Aichivirus B
(formerly Bovine kobuvirus) and
Aichivirus C (aka
porcine kobuvirus).
Recently, two other kobuviruses,
Canine kobuvirus 1 and
Murine kobuvirus 1, have
been described and probably belong to the species
Aichivirus A.
Recently, other kobu-like viruses have been identified in
bats.

Recently, Greninger et al. (2012) have report that the N-terminal
glycines of Aichi virus, bovine kobuvirus and human salivirus (klassevirus)
are myristoylated despite not having an N-terminal canonical myristoylation motif (GxxxT/S).
