The species Anativirus B consists of a single serotype, known as quail picornavirus 1 or phacovirus 1.

Quail picornavirus 1, now named phacovirus A1 (PhV-A1), complete genome sequence was deposited in the public databases on the 12-Sep-2011 (released on 15-11-2011); accession no. JN674502 (Pankovics et al., 2012). It appears to be most closely related to the sapeloviruses.

A partial sequence from chickens with runting-stunting syndrome (Kim et al., unpub.) is most closely related to PhV-A1. It was named by the authors as chicken picornavirus HK-2014 along with two partial sequences of a virus most closely related to chicken megrivirus. This sequence (partial 3CD) has 70% nt & 81% aa identity to PhV-A1.

Related viruses have been identified in chickens in Hungary and the USA (Boros et al., 2016).
