The species Cardiovirus B
(formerly named Theilovirus) consists of 16 genotypically different viruses (which may also be distinct serotypes): Theiler's murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV),
Vilyuisk human encephalomyelitis virus
(VHEV), Thera virus (TRV), Saffold virus (SAFV) 1, SAFV-2, SAFV-3,
SAFV-4, SAFV-5, SAFV-6, SAFV-7, SAFV-8, SAFV-9, SAFV-10 and SAFV-11,
Genet fecal theilovirus (GFTV) and
rat cardiovirus 1 (RCV-1).
The recently determined complete genome
sequence of Sikhote-Alin virus (Alkhovsky
unpub.) suggests that it is
a TMEV isolate.

Two partial 3D sequences have been
reported from laboratory mice (Mus musculus) in India (Sircar

and M23/India/2017 (MF508654)
both share 99% aa identity with Sikhote-Alin virus and Vilyuisk human
