Livupivirus A is a species within the genus Livupivirus.

The complete genome sequence of a novel picornavirus has been found in the faeces of free-living smooth newts (Lissotriton vulgaris) (Panovics et al., 2017). This is the second description of a picornavirus in amphibians. The authors have named the agent ‘‘Livupivirus’’ (from Lissotriton vulgaris picornavirus). Livupivirus A1 (LiV-A1) is most closely related to members of the genus Oscivirus.
